About

Sick Child Policy

You are the best judge of your child’s health, and we trust families to keep children at home when they are ill. Our goal is to maintain a healthy environment for all children and staff. If, in the judgment of the teachers, school nurse, or director, a child appears to be ill while at school, parents or guardians will be contacted and asked to pick up their child within 45 minutes.

Children may not attend school, or may be sent home, if they exhibit any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever, or a fever within the past 24 hours

  • Chills

  • Heavy or thick nasal discharge

  • New or persistent cough that has not been evaluated or cleared by a healthcare provider

  • Unusual fatigue or lethargy (rest at home may help prevent more serious illness)

  • Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 48 hours

  • Exposure to a communicable disease and showing signs of developing symptoms

  • Symptoms of a communicable illness, including but not limited to:

    • Sore throat

    • Headache

    • Abdominal pain

    • Redness or discharge from the eyes

    • Rash

    • Fever

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep our school community healthy and safe.
